The best part, everyone will willingly take their part and join the fun. </span></span></h3><h3 style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ldmsLqbaZ3XFjlFloS5s5TV8Sye52rm6347ESu06s5U/edit" target="_blank">SEND THE FREEBIES MY WAY! </a></span></h3><h3 style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ldmsLqbaZ3XFjlFloS5s5TV8Sye52rm6347ESu06s5U/edit" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="1250" data-original-width="1250" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_lr4CCBGqrDvt0iFBx868ni7MUlHuZSUv3PqKWQYMzAIYhSYWREaCIB0Ln2Ur7IvDnJ_QWUkGfs6cInL6qC9AbyQ0F_LL5EyNmHP6kEjvFY6NO_plecm03hrrmtNvokQJhuBWF9PiBt9Qs8rK_wFgB2gXNH2ESRO7UB4TM7NHSsy1QE2ZRmCl-cz5-R7n/w400-h400/The%20Very%20Lonely%20Firefly%20Lesson%20Plan%20Preview.png" width="400" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></h3></div><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Sun, Sand & Lesson Planshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03712204587911663475noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2898244100323681630.post-40141261195542880682023-07-22T21:50:00.003-07:002023-07-22T21:52:54.833-07:00Back to School Resources Primary Grades Read Alouds<h2 style="text-align: left;">Most teachers are due in the classroom next week. We are having a few days before the students arrive to set up, have team meetings and do some planning. Still, the most important tasks consist of planning our first week of school. </h2><h2 style="text-align: left;"> </h2><h2 style="text-align: left;">We only get one first week. Making it engaging and structured is super important. What our students learn during that first week really stays with them for the rest of the year. From class rules to the dismissal procedure. It all needs to be thought out for it will literally decide if your classroom will be in complete chaos or in organized chaos :). Be the boss of your own chaos. </h2><h2 style="text-align: left;"> </h2><h2 style="text-align: left;"><u>Get To Know Your Students</u></h2><h2 style="text-align: left;">Read-Alouds during the first week of school are a MUST. Through the story, we will establish rapport with our new students. We will learn about their lives and they will start getting comfortable to speak up in class and share their experiences and knowledge. </h2><h2 style="text-align: left;"> </h2><h2 style="text-align: center;">Books for Primary Grades <br /></h2><h2 style="text-align: left;">Some of the best K-2 Back to School Read-Alouds Are:</h2><h2 style="text-align: left;"><span style="background-repeat: no-repeat; border-style: solid; border-width: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><span style="background-repeat: no-repeat; border-style: solid; border-width: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><a href="Butterflies on the First Day of School Lesson" target="_blank">Butterflies on the First Day of School Lesson</a> is perrrrfect! I imagine that you are decorating your classroom and the front door, figuring out what type of ridiculous lesson plan outlines your administration wants to be submitted a week in advance and doing other fun things. Nothing that you are doing right now will prepare you for the actual school year. So here is some practical advice... <br /><br />School supplies... Not sure if your families donate supplies right to the classroom, or the county provides a school-wide supply room, whatever the case is, you will be running out of pencils all year. Pencils of all things simply disappear and are in daily need. Every class has a couple of students who will be in need of pencils. All the tracking in the world will not provide you with enough. Then there is a question of when do you allow students to sharpen their pencils. Some teachers don't allow sharpening during instruction, which I agree with. It's distracting to everyone. So, the best thing to do, no matter what age your students are is to have a cup of "ready-to-go" pencils available at all times. Yes, soon after the school year starts you will run out of pencils and will have to purchase some out of pocket. It's ok. Keep the receipt and write it off your school supply allowance or tax. Being in charge of pencils will reduce classroom distraction. Even better, make the "pencil ready cup" a part of student helpers' job. Kids will be more than happy to help and will learn to appreciate having pencils available when they need them. It's a win-win! :).</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://kidsread.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Lena @ KidsRead </a><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Back-To-School-Picture-Book-Bundle-3852620?st=615fb0f1f8d95225ea7a3d4c7ec3636b" target="_blank"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyYztBIUItC1yrBH8yu7YQRdsZJengTm53cPpZ8zHHx3-L-P5Ix2Rr51Q1-lj7N2TV3KCigPF6VThxGpB5-7A' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Our-Class-Is-A-Family-Back-to-School-Lesson-Plan-6985273" target="_blank"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxeZ4eWNqrWI8P6klTjircOkwrYN6rEVn8aVE0QZVKuHbYVUnaa4n4juN3JAhqUtpVIqlG6Zyb8MK07KKLmyQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></a></div><br /> <br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br /></div><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Sun, Sand & Lesson Planshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03712204587911663475noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2898244100323681630.post-28022757710205955832021-03-11T14:33:00.003-08:002021-03-11T14:39:35.064-08:00"Spring is Here" Boom Cards <p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p><b><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Spring-is-Here-Boom-Cards-Seasons-Months-Weather-Patterns-Sorting-6671492" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="1250" data-original-width="1250" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnqh-2gCeFDJQIAmterKxATZGcOpaqu0AbAUKz2wJg5DsWsiEK3SSz4X0IgfkdZkp9h7XqxPa_Cg67OhwReDCqykk90cjJdtVxte2YBpg-TC6lTcZekbW2h2V-fYQ3Be3ByzR3dmPWzjvy/w400-h400/Spring+is+Here+-+preview+1.png" width="400" /></a></span></b></div><b><span style="font-size: large;"><br />Everyone loves Boom Cards; teachers, students, and parents. When it comes to Read Across America we make a celebration week long, with many awesome books. To start with the festivities, we read three major Dr. Seuss books, <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/The-Lorax-by-Dr-Seuss-Lesson-NO-Prep-Google-Classroom-Ready-6499130?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664" target="_blank">"The Lorax"</a>, <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Green-Eggs-and-Ham-by-Dr-Seuss-NO-Prep-Pdf-Nearpod-Lesson-3029051?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664" target="_blank">"Green Eggs and Ham"</a>, and <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Horse-Museum-by-Dr-Seuss-NO-Prep-Google-Classroom-Lesson-Plan--6623560?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664">"Horse Museum"</a>. There is no unifying theme in these three books apart from that they are authored by Dr. Seuss. <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/The-Lorax-by-Dr-Seuss-Lesson-NO-Prep-Google-Classroom-Ready-6499130?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664">"The Lorax"</a> perhaps one of the most important children's literature books, teaches kids about protecting the environment, the importance of biodiversity, interconnectedness of humans, plants, and animals. It makes every one of us become "the Lorax who speaks for the trees". <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/The-Lorax-by-Dr-Seuss-Lesson-NO-Prep-Google-Classroom-Ready-6499130?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664" target="_blank">"The Lorax"</a> lesson is ideal for both Read Across America Week and the Earth Day celebration. Of course, ending the week with The Lorax movie is ideal if time permits. </h2><br /><h2 style="text-align: left;">We also study, <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Green-Eggs-and-Ham-by-Dr-Seuss-NO-Prep-Pdf-Nearpod-Lesson-3029051?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664" target="_blank">"Green Eggs and Ham"</a> a book every child can relate to. Refusing to try new foods and things are commonly encountered situations during childhood. In <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Green-Eggs-and-Ham-by-Dr-Seuss-NO-Prep-Pdf-Nearpod-Lesson-3029051?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664" target="_blank">"Green Eggs and Ham"</a>, Dr. Seuss helps kids learn to take a moment and try new things that they just might like. This story is extremely relatable, each student has their own story of refusing to try foods ranging from ice-cream to tuna. </h2><h2 style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Browse/Search:mrs%20lena%20dr.%20seuss" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1500" data-original-width="1000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqarjYx4EAprcfl71M2sbcVULn-fS_eWdcYro83hjJeCx0yfd1T3hNq2fNNwF8YEoMZS8vU88IGDUAuf5sJqUyYVcUilemKcQkmFk7P-IpoJY8fmUpXdUYdU2CVpZV3aHrTNJ1lEgi-BlW/s320/1.png" /></a></div> Lastly, the latest Dr. Seuss addition <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Horse-Museum-by-Dr-Seuss-NO-Prep-Google-Classroom-Lesson-Plan--6623560?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664">"Horse Museum"</a> is a book that teaches kids about art history. What is art? How does life reflect in art? What were the historical themes? Why horses? Is there one good way to create art? <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Horse-Museum-by-Dr-Seuss-NO-Prep-Google-Classroom-Lesson-Plan--6623560?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664" target="_blank">"Horse Museum"</a> brings so many good questions. Being that elementary students love to create art and are always ready to incorporate art into any subject, <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Horse-Museum-by-Dr-Seuss-NO-Prep-Google-Classroom-Lesson-Plan--6623560?st=9dcff38c80d0b9b2687e281d3cb32664">"Horse Museum"</a> can be used in language arts class and/or art class. Thankfully, by now we are all better prepared to tackle this new hybrid learning. My two favorite types of activities that came out of distance learning are: Boom Task Cards and Nearpod digital activities. With Boom Task Cards, I am able to target specific learning skills, while Nearpod lessons allow for comprehensive integration of lessons and outside learning resources, comprehension checks, and direct student engagement. Even better, since each student has access to digital activities in their account, they are able to review lessons at home and use it for test prep. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Amazon-Rain-Forest-Digital-Activities-Google-Classroom-Nearpod-5994281" target="_blank">"The Amazon Rain Forest"</a></b> Digital Activities Unit (22 page) includes; </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
